French and Francophone Study Abroad
Imagine spending a summer, a semester or even a year somewhere in the Francophone world. You could travel, study and live in Paris, Casablanca, Dakar, Geneva or Montréal. To get started, visit the Williams Office for International Education and Study Away website to explore the range of programs available, or attend our annual information session offered each October. There, you’ll hear from French professors and students on how to plan and apply for study abroad.
Marguerite W. Friedberg Memorial Travel Fellowship
The Marguerite W. Friedberg Memorial Travel Fellowship provides funding for travel to and within continental France in support of research or creative work that is inspired by a desire to delve more deeply into a French-related subject and/or that is linked to future thesis work. It may be undertaken in connection with study abroad, but the travel must be in addition to any travel or excursions included in an organized study abroad program. All students, except for graduating seniors, are eligible to apply for this fellowship.

French Club
Our French Teaching Associates are the leaders and organizers of the French Club. Each year, they organize cultural activities on campus for those who would like to practice speaking French outside the classroom and who want to learn more about French and Francophone cultures. From the weekly French Table to films, cooking lessons, karaoke, trivia and game nights, museum excursions, holiday events and political debates, these fun and relaxed activities can help you practice your spoken French and connect to others in the Williams French-speaking community.
