Undergraduate Study
Try It All at Williams
At Williams, there’s almost no limit to where your interests can take you. You’ll choose a major in one of our 50+ different areas of study—but that’s just your launch point. Add in courses from other disciplines, take an unexpected detour in Winter Study, and delve into a chosen topic with just your professor and one other student in our tutorials. Community-based learning, study away and faculty-guided research round out your experience.
And if you’re not sure where to go next, our advising team is always here to help you find your way.
Pick Your Path
With majors ranging from anthropology and art to physics and Spanish, you’re sure to find the one that’s right for you. Then, make it your own with interdisciplinary concentrations, special classes and experiential learning opportunities.
Immersive and Experiential Learning
Our approach to education is immersive and experiential. In these unique Williams programs, you’ll push your thinking further and develop a mindset that makes you uniquely prepared for the future.
Learning doesn’t get any more in-depth than this. In our tutorials, you’ll study a single topic for an entire semester with a fellow student as your research partner and your professor as your guide.
“Shakespeare and the Law in Movies.” “Minds, Machines and the Making of Meaning.” “Fashion’s Sustainable Revolution.” “Introduction to Firefighting.” These are just a few of our wide-ranging Winter Study courses.
The close relationship between Williams and the surrounding region means you’ll have plenty of chances to put theory into practice while making a difference in our shared community.
Experience the World
See your knowledge of the world come to life while studying away at one of our 180 programs in 60 countries. You can also spend a semester at sea through Williams-Mystic, or study at Oxford through the Williams-Exeter Programme.
Get Support
With so many possibilities available to you, we get that it can be hard to know where to begin. Advising starts your first week on campus, and at any point, you can get help with your writing, quantitative skills or course content.
