Our annual French Film Festival is made possible with generous funding from the Williams Class of 1960 Scholars Program, and with assistance and support from the Department of Romance Languages and the Center for Global Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. The films are in French with English subtitles, and are introduced by French professors. All films are free and open to the public.
2026 French Film Festival
Titled “Mothers, Sisters, Daughters: Family and Diversity in New French and Francophone Film,” the 2026 Williams French Film Festival features recent films from France and Belgium that focus on a diverse spectrum of women in the French-speaking world. From new moms in Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s Young Mothers (2025), to queer love in Hafsia Herzi’s The Little Sister (2025), to cultural identity in Davy Chou’s Return to Seoul (2022), these films examine the complexities of maternity and motherhood, queer sexuality and romance, adoption and self-discovery.
