Research

The Cazares Lab (aka “vac lab”) studies how memories are formed, recalled, and altered. We ask how different memories interact, why some are remembered over others, and what makes certain memories last. Our work combines learning theory with tools like Fos-trapping, chemogenetics, and calcium imaging to link behavior with brain activity. Ultimately, we aim to use these insights to inform new treatments for psychiatric disorders involving memory disruptions.
