Economics
Understand how individuals, organizations and societies meet their material needs
Economics is the most popular major at Williams, with approximately one-fifth of undergraduates choosing to study with us. In our core courses, you’ll gain an understanding of economic theories and econometrics, while our electives are designed to meet the scholarly interests of both faculty and students. Students may also supplement their studies with courses in the interdisciplinary Political Economy program or graduate courses through the Center for Development Economics (CDE), Williams’ one-year master’s program for early-career public servants from developing and transitional countries.
Practical Experience
Deepen your knowledge and apply theoretical concepts to real-world contexts through independent research and guided internships. Fellowship funding and research assistant positions with department faculty provide avenues for exploration.
