Latina/o Studies
A rigorous study of Latina/o immigrant life in the U.S.
In this five-course concentration, you will focus on the unique experiences of U.S. immigrants and their descendants whose roots are in Latin America and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean, including Mexican Americans/Chicanas/os, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Cubans, Colombians and Salvadorans. Students will engage with the complex historical, social, political and cultural contexts of the Latina/o community through courses that include collective research and community-based learning experiences.
A Unique Program
Created in the early 2000s as a result of successful student organizing, Latina/o Studies at Williams is the only free-standing liberal arts Latina/o Studies program in the U.S., and offers a range of courses and opportunities that students are unlikely to find at comparable institutions.
