Affiliations
David co-created the MakersWeb to create a cohort of 27 expert staff practitioners who belong to maker studios across campus. He serves on the Lawrence Hall Project Steering Committee that seeks to establish the College’s first student-focused Interdisciplinary Hub for the Arts. He has co-chaired the Williams Staff Committee, sat on the Islandora Board of Directors, chaired the Islandora Collaboration Group (24 peer institutions), and chaired several steering committees. Prior to Williams, David worked in tech, co-founded PsychData, and co-directed the Powell House Youth Program.
Grants
The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awarded David a grant for $153,000, and he crowdfunded $212,000 from 35+ peer and R1 institutions. Together, he raised $365,000 to make long-standing improvements to the Islandora open-source digital repository used by Williams and 300+ institutions internationally.

David manages the Makerspace, FabLab, and HPCC as inclusive communities of practice that offer expert support to—and collaborate with—faculty, students and staff. David and his student workers support curricular projects and champion interdisciplinary work that promotes innovation and creativity through experimentation, prototyping, and hands-on learning with traditional and emerging technologies.
