First Strategic Planning update for Fall 2019

Williams faculty, staff and students,

As I mentioned in last week’s start of semester message, Strategic Planning is kicking into high gear this fall. To let you know about the many ways to get involved, and how the work is progressing, I’ll send updates like this one throughout the term.

You’re invited to the very first campus event tomorrow, Tuesday, September 10, from 2 to 4 p.m., when we launch a semester-long series of Tuesdays at the Log gatherings on specific themes. Tomorrow’s session will be co-hosted by the working groups on faculty and staff development, and on student learning. Please join them for what I expect will be a lively discussion of topics central to Williams’ mission.

To prepare for that session, the co-hosts invite everyone to consider these questions:

  • How can and should faculty and staff collaborate to support faculty and staff development, as well as student learning?
  • What might a Center for Teaching and Learning offer to Williams?
  • Does our academic advising system serve students well?
  • How can we best support students’ writing proficiency?

So stop by, enjoy some complimentary snacks, and support your community by contributing to the discussion. Twenty years from now, you’ll be able to say you were there when it all started!

A full calendar of Tuesdays at the Log and other open sessions is available on the Strategic Planning website. Public events are also listed on the college events calendar (log in to see campus-only details), and are advertised in Daily Messages and on bright yellow flyers posted around campus.

I’ll be in touch periodically with more news, but in the meantime wish you a very happy start to the fall semester!
