Each January, Student Financial Services prepares Form 1098-T, Tuition Statement for Williams students. The original forms for the 2022 tax year will be available for download in Williams Student Records by early January if the student elects to receive their form electronically; otherwise, forms will be mailed by January 31, 2023 to the permanent address on file for each student. A request for an additional copy of Form 1098-T must be made by the student (not the parent/or other third party) since the form is issued in the student’s name.
Since the IRS does not require that Form 1098-T be issued for nonresident alien students, students with that status who wish to receive this form must submit a request to our office in writing via an e-mail to [email protected].
Please note that the 1098-T provides information on the qualified tuition and fees paid and the scholarship and grant amounts that have been applied to your student account. This information can be used to determine eligibility for certain educational tax credits (American Opportunity and Lifetime Learning tax credits) and is not to be used to calculate the amount of your scholarship and grant aid that is taxable. You may visit the IRS website for additional information on Form 1098-T.
Williams uses the “paid tuition and fees” method of reporting, not the “billed tuition and fees” method.
Please contact Student Financial Services at [email protected] or 413-597-4181 if you have any questions. While we can address questions regarding the preparation of this form, we are unable to provide you with tax advice. If you have tax filing or planning questions, please seek the counsel of an informed tax preparer or advisor.

Williams makes it possible for eligible students to exclusively view and print their Form 1098-T online through Williams Student Records. By consenting to receive your form electronically, you will gain immediate, round-the-clock, and secure access to your form. We strongly encourage you to provide electronic consent for earlier tax filing and to avoid potential delays or theft through the U.S. postal system.
To provide consent, view, and print, please follow these instructions:
Log in to Williams Student Records.
Navigate to Main Menu > Self Service > Campus Finances > View 1098-T.
Select “Grant Consent”.
Read the agreement to understand the terms.
Select “Yes, I have read the agreement”.
Select “Submit”.
Select “View 1098-T Selection”.
Select the “2022” Tax Year Hyperlink to view and print your form.
Once consent is given, it remains in force. No renewal for subsequent years is required after the year of consent. Parents and other third parties are not authorized to provide consent or directly access this form. If, at any time, you wish to withdraw consent, please email [email protected]. If you do not consent to receive your forms electronically (or if you no longer have access to Williams Student Records), then a paper form will be mailed to your permanent address by January 31, 2023, if you are eligible to receive a form.
