Director, the Writing Center
Julia McKenzie Munemo, Ed.M, MFA
Sawyer 429
Julia McKenzie Munemo brings two decades of experience working as a writer and editor to her role as Director of the Writing Center at Williams. She teaches a Winter Study course, The Personal is Political: A Narrative Nonfiction Workshop and her first book, The Book Keeper: A Memoir of Race, Love, and Legacy, was published in 2020. When ChatGPT hit the airwaves in late 2022, she wrote an opinion piece about it for Inside Higher Ed, which pretty neatly summarizes her thinking as a writing center director and how she hopes students will engage with the writing process.
She is available to meet about any aspect of the writing process, writing for college classes, thesis writing, or writing across academic disciplines. Please email her with questions, visit her calendar to make an appointment, or just drop by her office in the Writing Center on the 4th floor of Sawyer.
