Two Williams seniors have received fellowships to continue their studies after graduation.

Emma Mandel ’19

Emma Mandel is a Thomas J. Watson Fellow for 2019-2020. The English and theater studies major will receive a stipend for 12 months of independent study and travel outside of the United States, and she aims to explore how theater can be used to articulate the struggles of women in areas where words are censored, suppressed or inadequate to the task of describing the experience of oppression. Jeremy Smith

Jeremy Smith will be a Junior Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Junior Fellows are given the opportunity to conduct research, co-author journal articles and policy papers, organize briefings and participate in meetings with senior-level officials. Smith, a Chinese and economics major from St. Louis, Mo., will participate in the Asia Program, working at the Economics Desk. Read more.
