First Days 2011

Hurricane Irene made getting to campus a longer, more difficult journey for many students this year, but ultimately the sun shone on move-in and many of the First Days activities. First-years came together as a community over meals, in meetings, and in their entries, and they set off on “EphVentures” over Labor Day weekend that had them hiking, canoeing, and camping in the wilderness with student guides, exploring the arts, or getting to know Williamstown and Berkshire County by participating in a number of community service projects at area schools, farms, and nonprofits.

EphVentures activities included artmaking at the ’62 Center for Theatre and Dance with Julia Morgan-Leamon, pitching in as farmhands at Square Roots Farm in Clarksburg, and dining together at Bascom Lodge atop Mount Greylock.
