Disaster in Japan - An Expert Perspective

On July 11, Dr. Robert Budnitz, a nuclear engineer at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, shared his expert opinion on the Fukushima nuclear disaster with the Williams community.

As a Department of Energy adviser for the U.S. government’s response to the disaster at the Fukushima reactors following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, Budnitz presented “The Fukushima Nuclear Reactor Accident: What Happened and What Does it Mean?”

His talk provided technical details in laymen’s terms about the disaster, the radioactive releases that followed, and the implications of the incident on Japan’s and America’s nuclear programs. To watch the lecture, see the video below.
