Tom Hardie ’78 Memorial Prize in Environmental Studies

This award was established by Tom Hardie’s family and friends to memorialize Tom, Class of 1978. This prize is awarded to the student who has done the best work in Environmental Studies. Click here to see past awards.

The Tom Hardie III '78 Award for the Best Student Work in Environmental Studies is open to work from any Williams course and the competition is open to all students. If the winner is a member of the graduating class, they will be announced at Baccalaureate and in the graduation program. If presented to a non-senior, the award will be acknowledged in the fall course catalog. Students should self-nominate by sending a paper on an environment-related topic by 12pm the last day of classes (Fri May 16), to the Chair of Environmental Studies (Sarah Jacobson, [email protected]).

Scheffey Award

This award, in the name of Lewis and Andrew J.W. Scheffey (the first director of the Center for Environmental Studies), is given to a student in recognition of outstanding environmental leadership.

Robert F. Rosenburg Prize in Environmental Studies

The Rosenburg Prize is awarded to a member of the graduating class in recognition of outstanding scholarship, potential for solving local, national, or international environmental problems, and strong prospects for leadership in the environmental community.

Environmental Studies Committee Award

This award is for outstanding contributions to the Environmental Studies community at Williams.
