Dear Students and Families,
We are writing to update you on the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) offered by the College in partnership with Gallagher Student Health and Special Risk and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. For those enrolled in the plan this past academic year, coverage will expire on August 15, 2020. To ensure continuity of coverage we have decided to enroll all students, both returning and incoming students, in our SHIP.
The charge for SHIP will appear on your term bill released next week. If you have health insurance coverage and do not need to remain enrolled in SHIP, please visit our SHIP website to learn how to waive coverage. Waiver requests must be received by August 15, 2020. (As a reminder, students receiving financial aid have already been automatically enrolled in SHIP and have the full cost of the plan covered by the college via the Health Insurance Grant unless you choose to remain enrolled in your own comparable plan.)
We are also offering a continuation coverage policy to students who are on a personal leave from Williams. This is only available to students who were enrolled in SHIP during academic year 2019-20, and it will extend coverage through January 31, 2021. If you are interested in such coverage, please visit the SHIP website to log in and enroll. Payment will be due at the time of enrollment.
Students enrolled in our SHIP during the coming academic year will not receive health insurance cards. Instead, we ask that you please download the BCBS MA MyBlue App to access information about your coverage and get your virtual health insurance card.
We recognize that students have a tremendous amount of information being presented to you this summer. If you have any questions about the waiver or enrollment process, please contact Robert McBain with Student Health and Wellness Services at [email protected] or 413-597-3166, and he’ll be happy to help.
Stay healthy and safe.
