Update about construction and facilities

Williams faculty, staff and students living locally,

I am writing to share two news items about campus and our facilities.

First, as of the end of the day today, March 27th, construction has been suspended on both the North Science Building and Fort Bradshaw projects. We are communicating with the departments involved. Neither of the firms managing these two projects have reported any positive cases of COVID-19 on either work site.

Also as a preventative measure, starting tomorrow, Saturday, March 27, Weston Field and the college tennis courts will be locked and closed until further notice. The facilities are being closed in response to reports from the campus and local community about people using them without practicing social distancing. Playing fields and other such outdoor facilities cannot easily be secured, so as the weather warms up and people try to get outside we ask everyone to help by only using such spaces in a safe and healthy manner.
