Summer on campus - important information

Dear Summer Students,

We are happy that you will be here for the summer—whether you are already here or arriving in a couple of weeks. We have come a long way since the spring term, so I want to describe the COVID safety protocols that will be in place this summer. We are updating our protocols to be in line with the governor’s recommendations for the state of MA.  We will, of course, keep a close eye on public health developments and will make changes as necessary.

Testing (if you are already on campus)

If you are already on campus, please plan to get tested today (Tuesday, June 1) between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Towne Field House. Make your appointment via the CoVerified app.

  • If you are fully vaccinated (at least two weeks past your final vaccine dose) and have already uploaded an image of your vaccination records to the health portal, you will not need to test again after today.

  • If you are not yet fully vaccinated (or if you have not yet posted your documentation to the health portal), you must continue testing once per week on Tuesdays, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Field House until you have achieved full vaccination and uploaded an image of your vaccination card.

Summer Arrival (if you are coming back to campus from elsewhere)

If you are returning for the summer after any amount of time away, we look forward to welcoming you back on Monday, June 14. You will be required to test at the Towne Field House as soon as you arrive. The arrival and testing window will run from 12pm to 8pm on the 14th, so please time your travel to campus accordingly.

  • If you are fully vaccinated (at least two weeks past your final vaccine dose) and have already uploaded an image of your vaccination records to the health portal, you will not need to test again after your arrival test on the 14th.

  • Please be sure to arrive between 12-8pm on June 14th.  If you arrive outside this window, you will need to find your own off-campus accommodations until the next morning.  Please email Sue Gaskell to let her know, so that we can arrange your testing the following day.

  • If you are not yet fully vaccinated (or if you have not yet posted your documentation to the health portal), you must continue testing once per week on Tuesdays, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Field House until you have achieved full vaccination and uploaded an image of your vaccination card.

Uploading your vaccination documentation

Once you have received your second vaccine dose (for Moderna and Pfizer) or a single shot (if you receive Johnson & Johnson), please upload an image of your vaccine card to the Health Services patient portal or email it to [email protected] right away. You will be released from the testing requirement after you have done so.

Travel

You are free to travel during the summer. We are lifting all restrictions on where you can go, who you can travel with and what modes of transportation you can use. Enjoy—safely, as always, of course!

Masking and social distancing

If you are fully vaccinated, you will not need to wear a mask or socially distance indoors or outdoors (though you may choose to continue doing so). If you are not fully vaccinated, you must wear a mask indoors except in your private residential area, and outdoors when in close proximity to others.

Regardless of your vaccination status, you will be required to wear a mask at the testing site and on any public transportation.

Health Center Access

The Health Center is closed for the summer. If you need medical assistance, please check out the Health services website for information about local resources.

Facilities access

Your ID will give you swipe access to Paresky, the libraries and academic buildings (when relevant).

The upper fitness center in Lasell will also be open to students throughout the spring-to-summer transition. Check the Athletics webpage for information about access to the pool and other facilities.

Dining

Driscoll is your dining destination for the summer! Head over there Monday-Saturday for breakfast (7:30-9:30 a.m.), lunch (11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.) and dinner (5-7 p.m.).

On Sundays you can look forward to brunch (11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.) and dinner (5-7 p.m.).

If you have further questions, please contact Sue Gaskell in the Dean of the College’s office.

All best wishes,

Marlene Sandstrom
