Williams graduates pursuing the field of Education go on to teach in Charter Schools, Private Schools, and Public Schools (through master’s and residency programs below); work in education technology or education policy, or pursue education research.

    New private school teachers can expect to teach subjects they majored in at Williams as well as support the extracurricular activities of the school (e.g., athletics coach, club support, residence life). Starting salary averages around $30,000 for the school year, which often includes housing and some meals.

    Hiring timeline: Hiring for teachers happens from late fall through late spring. Placement agencies can start working with interested students as early as September, with offers from schools coming between December and May.

    Sample  Residency and Teaching Programs

    Teacher residencies follow the model of medical residencies; they provide training and certification and are geared toward students without an education major. Most include a master's degree, practicum hours for certification, and training and mentorship from current teachers. They often required a multi-year teaching commitment with a school or district in a high-need area after graduation. The following are a small sample of residencies/certification programs.
