Williams Summer Institute for Entrepreneurship
During the spring of the 2021-22 school year a teammate of mine and I started TokenTag, a platform for Web3 native and blockchain based businesses to know/understand their customers and create engagement/marketing campaigns based on our analytics. We started out looking to solve inefficiencies in the event ticketing/distribution industry and quickly pivoted toward tailoring our solution to businesses and individuals already utilizing the blockchain technology.
The pivots that we made in our product vision were the result of countless hours of conversations with industry experts, participants and potential customers. I was primarily responsible for getting on the phone with individuals and learning about their pains, sticking points, current software infrastructure, community/team dynamics and success stories. We received a lot of guidance from the WSIE program during this process and wouldn’t have found such a strong product market fit without it. Tonio and Adriana continuously pushed us to dive deeper into the root causes of the problems this ecosystem faces, and to build our solution around those issues.
During the summer I learned a tremendous amount about how to grow our business. We learned very quickly that staying in touch with our customers and learning from them is the most important part of building a strong community and delivering a world-class product. I take to heart most seriously our relationship with our customers and community and am working to strengthen that dynamic and have TokenTag be a one stop shop for individuals, businesses and teams to learn from and grow their community.
I have also learned a tremendous amount about how team dynamics in a startup culture take shape. Working with two of my best friends has certainly had its ups and downs, but I know that each has my back and will go to bat for me at every turn. However, we have made a point to hold each other accountable for our actions and align ourselves with the best interests of the business and our customers/investors.
The WSIE program also afforded us a number of really great connections in the startup and Web3 ecosystem that have proved to be mutually beneficial for all parties, and I am really excited to see those relationships carry into the future. By having different speakers join for panel discussions we were able to see into the minds of proven startup founders and big names in a couple different industries directly related to our line of business.
Finally, I would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Case for helping me and my company/team work tirelessly this summer to make our dreams happen. We are excited about our positioning in the ecosystem to change the way businesses engage with their customers in the Web3 world, as well as prepare to help all major retailers and communities utilize blockchain technology to create a sense of community in this ever-evolving digital world. You and the WSIE have made this possible, and I cannot thank you enough for your kindness and support.
