Air conditioners are not allowed in Williams College dorm rooms, along with other appliances as indicated on the Housing website.
If a student has a documented medical need for an air conditioner, they can apply through the Office of Accessible Education to be allowed to have one. For safety reasons, air conditioning units can only be present in certain dorm rooms, so if approved for an air conditioning unit, the student may have to change rooms or wait for a room to become available.
Students will be responsible for the purchase of the unit, and the storage of the unit when not in use.
To begin a request for an accommodation for an air conditioner, please indicate your need for a housing accommodation through the Housing Portal, then submit a letter from your healthcare provider with a detailed explanation of your need for an a/c unit to the OAE Student Documentation Upload form. An OAE staff member will follow up to discuss your request further.
