Oceanography One-Year Faculty Position

The Maritime Studies Program of Williams College and Mystic Seaport
(Williams-Mystic) invites applications from an A.B.D. or Ph.D. marine scientist for a one-year full-time appointment as Visiting Lecturer to teach oceanography, supervise student independent research, teach on our 3 field seminars in the fall 2009 and spring 2010 semesters (sailing offshore on an oceanographically-equipped tall ship, and during coastal field seminars to the Pacific and Gulf coasts), and participate in other Program activities. This is a sabbatical replacement position beginning July 2009, located in Mystic, Connecticut, a coastal New England town, between New York and Boston.
Williams-Mystic (www.williams.edu/williamsmystic/) is a selective off-campus, 20-student program of Williams College and Mystic Seaport. Our curriculum is an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary focus on the world's oceans and coastlines. Students of all majors study the history, literature, policy and science of the sea. Our classrooms include our brand new Marine Science Center near the Mystic River Estuary, Mystic Seaport's unparalleled maritime library, home to one of the world's most extensive collections of maritime books, periodicals and documents, and extensive field sites around the region and the country.
