From January 28th to March 7th 2007, Williams College participated in
RecycleMania,
a 10-week competition among college and university recycling programs in the United
States. The main goal of the event was to increase student awareness of campus
recycling and waste minimization. Williams entered the Per Capita Classic, an
event targeting paper, corrugated cardboard, bottles and cans, and food waste,
and finished 33rd out of 175 schools with a total of 44.7 tons of material recycled!
The entire campus population (2,698 students, faculty, and staff) participated.
