Vera Institute of Justice
The Vera Institute of Justice is one of the leading think tanks in the United States for the analysis of pressing urban issues. The Institute’s special focus is on the criminal justice system. It has major research projects on crime and victimization; policing; the judicial process; sentencing and corrections; and institutions for youth. The Institute's work brings its professionals into regular contact with top New York City officials in several municipal agencies, as well as with law enforcement and court officials throughout the metropolis.
Students placed at the Vera Institute work closely with fellows at the Institute on their particular areas of expertise. They also have the opportunity to see the entire range of the Institute's work and its intersections with city bureaucracies.
