Mark Taylor - Grave Matters
The story of modernism is a spectral history in which ghosts of the past eternally return to haunt those who can live neither with nor without them. Grave Matters attempts to figure death by exploring the graves of great modern writers, artists, philosophers, composers, and architects. What do their graves look like? What final words mark their memorials? What do these images tell us about them and about ourselves?
