The Watson Foundation provides Fellows an opportunity for a focused and disciplined Wanderjahr of their devising - to thoroughly explore a particular interest, to test their aspirations and abilities, to view their lives and American society in greater perspective and, concomitantly, to develop a more informed sense of international concern. The Fellowship experience is intended to provide an opportunity to immerse themselves in other cultures for an entire year.
Williams College seniors are eligible for nomination. The Foundation welcomes applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds and academic disciplines. Motivated candidates with a good project are encouraged to apply. Grades are not a top priority in the selection of candidates. Williams can nominate four candidates. All Watson applicants will be considered applicants for the Florence Chandler Fellowship.
The preliminary application will be a personal statement, project proposal, resume and two faculty references. A committee of deans and faculty members will review all applications and interview selected candidates. Candidates will submit their applications via Blackboard. Log in to Blackboard, browse the WILLIAMS COMMUNITY until you see the organization called FELLOWSHIPS. You must enroll in this organization. To enroll successfully be sure to choose the ENROLL button and the SUBMIT button. Follow the instructions. Click here to go to Blackboard. Click here to print out the reference form/waiver.
