One of the best ways to know a subject is to teach it, and hundreds of Williams graduates have chosen to develop their love of learning through this honorable profession. Teaching, at all levels, requires a dedication to a particular subject matter as well as to the concept of passing on knowledge.

Teaching requires not only a love of the subject matter, but also a passion for working with people. In many ways, it is an ideal starting point for a liberal arts graduate. Williams College does an outstanding job at preparing students for work in schools. Also, many schools visit Williams each year to recruit interns and full-time teachers.

The Program for Teaching provides a pathway not only to understanding the philosophy of education, but also to understanding life in the classroom. The program offers opportunities to teach, create curriculum, and discuss what makes an effective learning environment. Susan Engel is a great person to talk to about exploring your interest in education.
