Isn’t everything a business? How do we define such a broad category? Well, at Williams, many students first think of business as investment banking and consulting . . . and that’s about it. Because of this perception, I have created a special category of Consulting and Finance to take care of this stereotype of the business world. In this section, however, I am aiming at everything that is NOT CONSULTING and NOT FINANCE.
Principally, you will learn a lot about the more functional areas of the business world, including general management, sales, marketing, accounting, purchasing, and human resources. You will learn about other industries with the business world such as insurance, retail, manufacturing, consumer goods, transportation, the service industries, and more. Many companies offer management training programs that provide an excellent starting places for careers in business.
Please come to see me, Robin Meyer, the OCC business counselor, to discuss all the possibilities within the world of business. I can also talk with you about applying to business schools and other management programs. In the meantime, please explore the on-line resources available to you right now.
Robin counsels students interested in business, consulting, finance, advertising, public relations, and publishing. She also directs the school’s on-campus recruiting program.
