New Tiered System
For the first time this year, the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl will be a tiered competition. The semi–finalists from
eight regional Ethics Bowls, including the Northeast Regional Ethics Bowl, will earn a spot in the national Intercollegiate Ethics
Bowl, to be held in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Thursday, February 22, 2007.
Who can participate
- Any college or university–based teams composed of 3–5 undergraduate students may participate, irrespective of the region
in which the school is located. Nevertheless, most will probably be from the Northeast region.
- Individual schools may send more than one team to the Northeast Regional Ethics Bowl (NEREB), but they can win at most one
spot in the national competition. If a school secures a spot in the national IEB by advancing to the semi–finals at the NEREB,
the composition of the team that competes at the national level is left entirely up to the school, and need not be identical to a
team that competed in the regional tournament.
- Teams may compete in as many regional events as they like, but must designate in advance of a given competition whether
they wish it to serve as the one which could qualify them for participation in the national IEB. If you would like the NEREB
be your qualifying competition, please indicate this on the NEREB registration form or otherwise notifying the organizer, Julia
Pedroni, in writing before the competition begins on the morning of November 11.
