When I was an undergraduate, one of my instructors (Peter Lipton, I think?) passed around an article, "Why Major in Philosophy?" I thought to myself, "If you have to ask, you shouldn't." Although I did not pursue a career in philosophy, the critical thinking skills I learned at Williams have proven invaluable in my professional life, and have enriched my personal life. I majored in philosophy because I loved it, and I have never regretted my decision.
