While I was at Williams I majored in chemistry and philosophy, with a concentration in women's studies. As of May, 2001 I will have my PhD in chemistry from UC Berkeley. I could say that my philosophy degree greatly enhanced my critical thinking skills, which were vital to my success in graduate school (and this I really think is true), but honestly I majored in philosophy just because it was fun. I loved the classes, greatly admired my professors, and knew that I wouldn't really have the chance to have active discussions about many of the writers that I enjoy in many other settings.
