Williamstown is a small New England village of some 10,000 inhabitants in the Berkshire Hills of northwestern Massachusetts. The area is attractive to anyone fond of the outdoors and is rich in historic and literary associations as well.

The area is filled with cultural activities, particularly in the summer when Tanglewood, the Marlboro Music Festival, the Saratoga Festival of the Performing Arts, Jacob's Pillow, and the Williamstown Theater Festival are in season.

New York and Boston are each about 3 hours away by car, and these and other cities with distinguished museums, such as Worcester, Hartford, and New Haven, are well within reach of course-related field trips.
