North and South Academic Bldgs
mid-August 2008

The faculty is now moving into the buildings. Things look a bit scruffy here and there because contractors
are scrambling to finish punch-list items and hallways are crowded with empty
cardboard boxes. But here are a few images of significant features of the two buildings.

The South Academic Building's S-facing entrance.

This is pretty much the same view, but from inside looking out, standing on the second-floor bridge that
overlooks the South Academic Bldg's gallery. Hopkins Hall to the left, Spring
Street in the center distance.

On the N side of Sawyer, the North Academic Building is a new presence. Note the controversial
I-beam pergola atop the brick piers, a feature that references the front of Stetson Hall.

Interior gallery, North Academic Bldg, looking NE. In the center background you can see the office of the
Faculty Administrative Assistants.

Staircase in NAB gallery that leads to classroom and lobby of the Center for Foreign Languages,
Literatures, and Cultures.

NAB public lounge, W corner of building. If it were winter, you could make out
Paresky in the background. Sawyer Library is visible to left.

One of two meeting rooms stacked on the N corner of the NAB. These are likely to become
primo destinations for small-scale events of one sort or another.

This is a fairly typical faculty office, still awaiting its occupant.

S-facing sunshades on NAB. From the shadows, you can tell that they work.
