GENERAL INFORMATION Undergraduate interdisciplinary programs at Williams provide students with the opportunity to work in areas that cut across departmental lines. Through courses developed and taught by professors from different departments, students examine the world through a variety of conceptual lenses, learn multiple ways of solving problems, and explore areas of inquiry that arise at the intersections between traditional departments and disciplines. The Neuroscience Program, for example, integrates the work of biologists, chemists, psychologists, computer scientists, and philosophers in an attempt to understand the relationship between brain, mind, and behavior. Students of Comparative Literature cross national, linguistic, historical, and disciplinary boundaries to learn new ways of reading texts. The Jewish Studies Program enables students to apply a variety of methods to a common subject that extends over a broad range of periods and geographical regions. Some
programs offer majors, some offer concentrations, and others simply offer
educational guidance to students seeking to explore a particular area
of interdisciplinary scholarship. While many students choose to major
in their program of interest, others find that concentrating in a program
serves as an enriching complement to their major. For a complete list
of interdisciplinary programs and the guidance they offer, please click
