Women's Commission for Refugee Women and Children
The Women's Commission for Refugee Women and Children is a nonprofit advocacy organization that argues for the growing number of women and children refugees from lands in conflict. The Women's Commission lobbies government and international agencies, especially on immigration and asylum issues, writes reports for wide media distribution on the obstacles that refugee women and children face from government bureaucracies, and design manuals to educate refugees themselves about the hazards of gender-based violence and sex trafficking.
Students placed at the Women's Commission learn how top advocates frame important issues for targeted national and international audiences.
