Legal Aid Society of New York, Criminal Division

The Legal Aid Society of New York is the main public defender for New York City. It serves those New Yorkers accused of crimes, who are unable to hire their own attorneys. It represents its clients in hearings, trials, and appeals.

Students placed in the Legal Aid Society work in different areas of the city investigating the details of criminal cases. They write detailed reports of their findings to update attorneys on the status of cases. They will be deeply involved in case preparation.
