Thank you for your interest in our swim! Because of the generosity of numerous Williams College offices and the swimmers themselves, 100% of your donation will go to the Mothers Programmes and Williams in Africa (please contact donations@channelforcharity.org or Noah if you're interested in helping to underwrite the cost of the attempt itself through your donation).
Donations may be made securely online through our Paypal account by clicking on the animated banner above, or on the button below.
US tax-deductible donations may be made directly to the Mothers Programmes in our name: for more information on this, go to: http://www.m2mafrica.org/help.html#1. Please be sure to specify that your donation was inspired by our swim.
In parts of Africa, up to 75% of the babies born stand to lose their mothers to AIDS-related illnesses. Without intervention, more than a quarter of these children will themselves inherit the virus. The AIDs epidemic sweeping through Africa is at a critical point; an entire generation is at stake. The Mothers Programmes is an efficient and effective treatment program uniquely positioned to fight AIDs. Every $30 of sponsorship puts one mother through the program, giving that family new hope.
We have committed to giving 100% of the donated proceeds to the Mothers Programmes and the Williams in Africa Program. Of that total, approximately 80% will go to the Mothers Programmes to provide a critical support for their operations. Your donations will be directed where they are the most needed; to provide for the continuing existence of a localized M2M site.
In addition to this, approximately 20% of the total will be integrated by the Mothers Programmes with the Williams in Africa Program, so as to provide for the work of one student fellow with the Mothers Programmes in Africa. We believe that not only is it necessary to support the operation of the Mothers Programmes, but that the student generation--our generation--must become more involved in fighting AIDs. In addition to giving generations of African families new hope, your donation will provide a highly motivated student with a once in a lifetime opportunity to personally affect change.
If you specify your interest and provide us with your mailing address, one of our swimmers will write you a personal letter upon completion of the swim, recounting their experience. Companies or others who wish to receive public recognition of their generosity should contact donations@channelforcharity.org or Noah.
For any questions or clarifications on our fundraising event or how to donate, please contact donations@channelforcharity.org or Noah Smith-Drelich.
