At present, it is very difficult for students without US citizenship or permanent residency to obtain money to attend medical school in the United States. Most medical school financing comes in the form of government-banked loans unavailable to non-citizens. For this reason, many schools do not accept applications from non-citizens. Finding $150,000 - $300,000 for the cost of tuition and living expenses at those private schools that do admit non-citizens - and providing that prior to matriculation - can be a daunting task. The most selective schools may have scholarship funds available, but it is extremely difficult to obtain.
International students should speak with the Health Professions Advisor early on, perhaps even before deciding to study at Williams, to understand better the challenges they might face.
