America Reads / America Counts

How to become an America Reads/America Counts Tutor:

    1. Decide what school is the best fit for you and what times you are able to commit to tutoring.
    2. Fill out the Tutor Schedule Form below so you can be connected with a teacher for in-class assistance or a student for after school tutoring.
    3. Fill out a CORI form (below) for the school you’d like to tutor in. Please give it to the main desk on the first day you begin tutoring.
    4. If you do not have transport and cannot walk or carpool with fellow tutors, get your driving record from your home state. Your driving record will allow you to become certified to use Office of Community Service and Facilities cars to drive to your school. State-by-state information about requesting a driving record is on the Office of Community Service website under Information. For more information about obtaining a van see Nancy Luczynski ( Nancy.E.Luczynski@williams.edu x2483) in the Chaplain’s office in the Paresky Student Center, Room 205. Directions to the schools are below.
    5. Sara Kazanjian, Jenny Gimian, or Sadie Miller will contact you via email regarding available times for you to tutor in one of the local public elementary schools.
    6. Get tutoring!

If you are a Work Study Student and would like to use America Reads/America Counts as your work study:

  1. Follow the steps above
  2. Meet with Sadie Miller to fill out an Employment Authorization form (below).
  3. Once you are a verified student employee of America Reads/ America Counts, turn time verification forms and payroll slips into Sadie Miller in Siskind house the Thursday before timecards are due at the Payroll office.

In order to guarantee a steady income flow, you need to turn in your payroll slips at Siskind on the Thursday before Timecards are Due at Payroll. Late payroll slips are strongly discouraged and will not be processed until the next payroll cycle.
