Activities

The Center for Environmental Studies runs more than just an academic program.

Several lecture series are run each year including the Class of 1960 Scholars Program and the weekly Log Lunch.

CES works with several student organizations to help plan activities and events for the College Community. These organizations range from the educational to the recreational, providing the opportunity for students to become involved in activities ranging from environmental advocacy to gardening.

CES also has funding available to help offset the costs for students wishing to attend environmentally related conferences and workshops, as well as for student organized events on campus. Additional funding is available each year for students planning to spend the summer conducting independent research on an environmentally related topic, completing an unpaid (or underpaid) internship with an environmental organization, or pursuing an environmentally related "creative endeavor". Funds are allocated through a competitive process with applications due prior to spring break each year.

The Campus Environmental Advisory Committee: A student/faculty committee with representatives from CES, Buildings and Grounds, Dining Services, Health Services, and the student body. CEAC makes recommendations to the Vice President of the College on campus environmental issues.
