Diversity in the Sciences skip navigation

Introduction

Several institutions in the U.S. have developed highly successful programs for mentoring underrepresented science students. To disseminate information about these programs to institutions that are primed for change, three symposia will bring together administrators, faculty, and students from institutions committed to supporting diversity among undergraduate and graduate science students. Each participating team will develop an action plan for their institution based on informed consideration of best practices. Symposia dates, sites and organizers are:

November 2005 Harvard University
Robert Lue, Symposium Chair
(617) 495-9924, robert_lue@harvard.edu

April 2006 University of Louisiana at Monroe
Ann Findley, Symposium Chair,
(318) 342-1817, afindley@ulm.edu

Oct 2006 University of Washington
Barbara Wakimoto, Symposium Chair,
(206) 543-0487, wakimoto@u.washington.edu

Participants in the three symposia will form a consortium of colleges and universities that will work together to promote diversity in the sciences. This Web site will support the consortium's ongoing efforts to share information about institutional action plans for building successful diversity programs, identifying funding opportunities and other diversity resources. Consortium inquiries and suggestions on Diversity Resources should be directed to:
