Bates downs Williams, 4-1
October 9, 2004
The Williams College women's soccer team (5-2-1, 3-2) dropped a 4-1 decision to the Bates College Bobcats (6-2-1, 2-2-1) today, ending a three-game winning streak for the Ephs. Bobcat Kim Alexander scored twice and Moly Wagner recorded a goal and an assist to lead Bates to victory.

Wagner started the scoring at 34:00 with a shot from 25 yards out that sailed into the upper left corner of the net and over Eph keeper Sarah Ginsburg '07. Bates increased their lead to 2-0 early in the second half as Wagner fed Alexander.

At 62:24 the Bobcats went up 3-0 with a goal by Jessie Gargiulo and an assist from Jessica Wagner. Alexander got her second of the game shortly thereafter with an assist by Ceci Clark. Alexander's second was the Bobcats' fourth that the Ephs were unable to answer.

Finally, with less than ten minutes remaining, Williams got on the board but it proved to be too little too late. Senior co-captian Brittany Esty prevented Bates keeper Emily Howieson from recording a shutout with an unassisted goal.

The Ephs play again tomorrow at Colby College at 11 am.
