| August 24, 2007 |
Alix Rorke's Ephs are ranked 12th in the 2007 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) preseason poll. Defending Div. III champion Ursinus is ranked number one. The Ephs are one of three NESCAC teams ranked with Bowdoin (3) and Middlebury (7). Rorke's Ephs posted a record of 13-4 a year ago and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament where they fell to eventual runner-up Messiah, 3-2, in 2 OTs. The top three scorers from last season – junior forward Meighan McGowan (10g, 14a-34 pts.), junior defender jess Overlander (11g, 2a-24 pts.) and senior forward Katherine Krieg (13 goals-26 pts.) to lead the attack. Rorke will need to find a replacement in goal for the graduated Emily Wasserman who posted a 0.94 goals against average in 2006 in goal and played almost every minute, if she hopes extend her streak of consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances with the Ephs to 8. |
