Research Interests:

Liza Johnson is an artist and filmmaker. She teaches courses in video production, art theory, and cultural and media studies.

Her work has been exhibited widely in film festivals, galleries, and museums. She has also curated media exhibitions and film screenings and published writings on film and art. Her current projects include: A feature film about the dislocating experiences of a contemporary woman who returns from military service; an installation project about the political force of atmosphere in a small Ohio town; and, co-directing with Anne Etheridge, a short film about the burdens of queer sexuality on man in U.S. South in the 1900’s, and his dangerous intersections with emerging forms of mass media.
