Regional Association Handbook Table of Contents

A WORD FROM THE ALUMNI RELATIONS OFFICE

On behalf of the Alumni Relations Office, I want to add my thanks for your service to Williams and to the Williams community in your region. My job as Director of Off-Campus Programs is to serve you, the volunteers who do the heavy lifting. I’m fortunate to work with people who love Williams and want to keep the College alive for fellow Ephs wherever they may live.

Anyone who has been a regional volunteer in the past few years knows the vital role that Angie Phienboupha plays in our office. She is the glue that holds us together. I hope you will get to know her well. In the meantime, this handbook will provide valuable information to experienced volunteers and neophytes alike.

With input from Williams leaders in more than 30 regional associations, this guide will:

  • Help you organize and strengthen your regional association leadership
  • Inform you of Williams resources to help connect with local alumni
  • Assist you in planning and executing successful events in your region
  • Provide information to support you in key regional activities including:
  • Educational events
  • Service projects and other community activities
  • Support for prospective/accepted Williams students
  • Social gatherings

This handbook is meant to educate and inspire, and to be used as a resource for your efforts. It is not meant to intimidate or overwhelm. Take what you will and use it as you wish. In the end, it’s your show — put your own stamp on your regional association.

We continually seek input and advice from regional leaders. Please share comments, suggestions, tips, questions, and needs with us – via telephone, fax, or e-mail. Better yet, regional presidents have an avenue to communicate with each other. The College has set up a listserv for regional presidents — just send an e-mail to REG-PRES-L@alumnilists.williams.edu to offer suggestions or ask advice of each other. Again, thank you for your commitment to Williams and to your regional association.
