2006 Alumni Fund Results 2006 Trophy Winners

A Message from Morty Schapiro

As we wind up The Williams Campaign's second year, the Alumni Fund continues to be the driving force behind The Campaign's profoundly positive effects on campus.

Now that we've achieved a 15 percent increase in the number of Williams professors, our students this fall will choose from more than 50 tutorial courses - the new hallmark of a Williams education - up from a mere 21 tutorials offered in 2001. We now offer substantially more generous financial aid packages to great students who couldn't otherwise afford to attend Williams, and we've extended this need-blind aid policy to students from around the world. Many of these students will enrich their learning in the classrooms, tech shops, and three beautiful stages housed in the '62 Center for Theatre and Dance, now "open for business" and scheduled for its official dedication in October.

In all these efforts, Williams renews our commitment to Mark Hopkins' educational vision to equip students to lead effectively in an increasingly complex and challenging world. Our Williams Alumni Fund - the envy of American higher education - enables us to act on our resolve by deploying resources when and where they're most needed to successfully and efficiently bring about our educational ambitions.

This vision is clearly shared by thousands and thousands of former Williams students. More than six out of every ten Ephs are giving to The Campaign - more than 90 percent of them exclusively through the Alumni Fund.

In return for your generosity, I promise your gifts will be spent wisely in direct support of the best education that Williams can offer.

On behalf of each of your grateful beneficiaries - every single Williams student, professor, and staff member - I thank you.

- MORTON OWEN SCHAPIRO
  16TH PRESIDENT OF WILLIAMS COLLEGE
