Students Learning from Students - Need-based Scholarships
Offering talented and deserving students a place at Williams has never
been more important to the College and its fundamental values. Williams
is one of a handful of American colleges and universities that admits
students strictly on a need-blind basis and meets 100 percent of
students' demonstrated financial need. In 2002 and 2003, 40 percent of
our students received financial aid, with scholarship endowment at $217
million. Our goal is to increase those numbers to 45 percent and $307
million by the end of the Campaign for Williams in 2008. At the same
time, we will continue to offer significant scholarship grants and
minimize students' debt burdens. And because a world class institution
is by definition a worldwide institution, Williams also has chosen to
extend need-blind admission to all international applicants accepted to
the College.
