To the Williams Community,
I write with news about an important part of the College — its Children’s Center. After careful study of the Center in recent years by several College groups we've decided to assume its management, beginning this summer.
We do this with deep thanks to Child Care of the Berkshires for partnering with the College for 22 years and equally deep appreciation of the dedicated efforts over those years of so many CCB staff to provide quality care for our children.
Based on our recent studies, we’ve concluded that, given how important the Center is to the recruitment and retention of faculty and staff, the College should operate it directly, have its staff be Williams employees, and engage in it College faculty with relevant interests.
CCB is working closely with us on making a smooth transition over the coming months. The College will begin soon the search for a Center director, who will report to me.
If you have questions about the transition, feel free to contact me or Adriana Cozzolino (acozzolino@williams.edu), who’s been centrally involved in Center planning.
We thank, in addition to CCB, all those at the College who’ve worked on Children’s Center issues in recent years. It’s your work that has led to this important moment for the Center and the College.
Regards,
Steve Klass
Vice President for Operations
