ENGL 202(S) Modern Drama

An introduction to some of the major plays of the past century: Ibsen's The Wild Duck and Hedda Gabler; Chekhov's Three Sisters; Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest; Shaw's Heartbreak House; Pirandello's Six Characters in Search of an Author; O'Neill's A Long Day's Journey Into Night; Brecht's Mother Courage; Beckett's Krapp's Last Tape; Pinter's Betrayal; and Stoppard's Arcadia. Requirements: two 4- to 5-page papers, a scheduled final exam, and regular, active participation in class discussions. Prerequisite: English 101. Enrollment limited to 40.
