ECON 519(S) Regulation of Business (Same as Economics 381)*
This course will deal with the general issue of government regulation of private enterprises. We will consider various forms of regulation (monopoly, labor practices, licensing, price controls, environmental regulation, etc.) and how they affect and are affected by the development process. We will devote significant attention to the political economy of regulation and to the institutional and other prerequisites for its successful implementation. Undergraduate enrollment accepted with instructor's permission.
