ECON 376 The Economics of Labor (Not offered 1997-98)

This course will examine policy issues relating to labor markets in the U.S. Theoretical models and empirical research are used to analyze several important areas of the U.S. labor market such as; education and training of workers, discrimination and comparable worth, minimum wages, income inequality, and the growth and decline in unionization. Public policy implications of these issues will also be discussed. Requirements will include at least one exam, a research paper and a class presentation. Prerequisites: Economics 251 and 253 or 255 or permission of the instructor if student has not taken 253/255.
